Gladys Hat was made from an original ceramic figure designed to hold Gladiolii. GLADYS looked so different when cast in bronze resin and given a hat, she gently trickles or spurts water.

The original title ‘An Embrace Of Chinese Whispers Pass It On’ is too long, hence Chinese Whispers. The four figures are hugging, the water trickles from the top, and gently runs down them all.

Tired from a days shopping this figure is named after my nan who always wore a hat when she went out. The trick is to get the fountain’s flow to go into the bag. David was an expert at this when we exhibited at the RHS Chelsea Flower Shows.

Fifi la Bouche can be a birdbath, or a lovely fountain with gently overflowing water. As the water can be a bit deep for birds I always place interesting pebble in it to help them have something to perch on.
